Susquehanna Folk Festival Swing Series in partnership with Lindy Central

The Lindy Hop is a dance created by Black Americans and African-Americans in the ballrooms of Harlem, NY in the early 1900s. It was a response not only to the jazz tunes of the times, but also to the events of the times: systemic racism, challenging living conditions, The Great Depression. The Lindy Hop spread through the nation and the world and continues to do so. It is dance that values improvisation, self-expression, innovation, and community as well.
