Monthly Jams & Song Swaps

(no jam in April 2024)
Second Sundays, October thru May
1-4 pm at Fort Hunter Barn

About This Event:

Join us at Fort Hunter Barn for an afternoon each month to make music and share songs. Everyone is welcome: singers, players and listeners; beginners to experts; young and old. Folk music is at its best when made by hand and shared among friends — so drag that ukulele out of the closet and join in!

Bring your instruments, ears, voices, and (if you wish) snacks to share. Copies of song words and/or guitar chords help others play and sing along.

Montage of photos from a Susquehanna Folk jam in 2019. TOP LEFT: a bearded young man playing fiddle, with guitar and mandolin players in the background. TOP RIGHT: a gray-haired man playing pennywhistle. CENTER: accordion player, banjo player and guitarist, all older people. BOTTOM: wide-angle shot showing 16+ folk musicians sitting in a large oval, filling the room at Fort Hunter. They're playing a variety of instruments, including guitars, banjos, and a hammered dulcimer.

We get all kinds of instruments at SFMS jams. This 2019 video features fiddler Chad Snyder playing "Danny Boy" along with Daniel T Worley on... a saw!
