Jane Rothfield & Allan Carr

Husband-and-wife duo Jane Rothfield (fiddle, banjo, vocal) and Allan Carr (guitar, vocals) have been playing their unique blend of traditional and original Celtic and Appalachian style music for over 30 years.

Jane is an award winning fiddler, clawhammer banjo player and tune composer with deep roots in the fiddle traditions of New England, Scotland and the American South.

Allan is from Aberdeen, Scotland, grew up surrounded by the rich traditional music of northeastern Scotland. He started singing traditional songs as a teen, and is one of the finest singers from that tradition.

Jane and Allan play roots music that is directly from the source while expanding on that tradition with newly composed songs and tunes. Expect great singing, hot instrumentals and with Allan’s humor, always a whole lot of fun!

A Call to Music Teachers!
Young musicians at our 2020 Festival

The Susquehanna Folk Music Society has presented the Susquehanna Folk Festival, a premier folk festival of the traditional arts, for the past two years. Our third festival, to be held on July 24-26, 2020 at Roundtop Mountain Resort in Lewisberry, will feature a festival youth band music program, sometimes referred to as a "Kids' Academy", coordinated by Jane Rothfield.

If you are a music teacher and have instrumental students ages 6-16 who are interested in folk music, SFMS would love to tell you all about the Festival Youth Band so that you can encourage your students to participate! At the festival, young musicians will get together, learn several folk music pieces by ear, and then perform them on the main stage. Any instruments and ability levels are welcome.

SFMS will host an info session/potluck for music teachers from 6-7 pm on Friday, October 11th preceding the Jane Rothfield/Allan Carr concert to be held at Fort Hunter Barn in Harrisburg. During the meeting Jane Rothfield will share her vision for the program.

All attendees will receive one free admission to the concert.

If you teach students who may want to participate, come to this session to learn more about it!

IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO ATTEND, BUT WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE FURTHER INFORMATION, PLEASE SEND US YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS! To register for the info session or to let us know that you would like to receive further information, contact sarasmile307@gmail.com or peterwinter38@gmail.com
